DK Spektre BMX bike
Here is something for all your BMX racers out there. This is the DK Spektre - DK’s top of the race bike. DK did not forget their racing roots when specing their BMX racing bikes.
The Spektre is built around a 7000 series, pro size frame featuring hydro-formed down tube and chain stays, with 3-D machine rear dropouts, Euro bottom bracket, and 21″ top tube. It’s basically the Octane Racing frame that is also sold seperatly.
Steering is accomplished via DK Crazy-8, 2 pc, 11 butted, 4130 Chromoly race bars mounted to a front loading, 1 1/8″ alloy stem. Headset is an integrated Cane Creek model with sealed bearings. Very nice. A lot of companies would skimp on the headset, DK did not.
Forks are DK R/T, Butted & Tapered 4130 Chromoly bolted to 3/8″ chromolly axles spinning on sealed bearings. The wheels feature Sun Ryno Lite XL rims, Sealed DK cassette hub, and Maxxis Holy Roller tires.
Power is transferred via DK platform pedals (DX style) with removable pins. You will get your crank on via genuine DK Social 3pc 175mm Chromoly 3-piece cranks and a Euro Sealed bottom bracket w/48 splined Chromoly spindle. You also get a CNC machine DK 44T sprocket and KMC chain. All very nice and what you would expect with a top of the line complete.
Stopping power is provided via Tektro Alloy V-brake w/Linear spring. When it’s time to sit down and rest you will be comforted by a DK Moto seat with 7mm rails, an Alloy 27.2 mm Micro Adjust post, and its all held together with a super light ally seat clamp. Oh yea, forget to mention the DK Tsuka grips.
The DK Spektre runs about $650 and is definatly worth the money. The overall design and quality of components is right on point for this price range. We can’t really complain about anything here.
Is it Pro Level? well no, but are you a Pro? a Pro level bike would run $1,000-$1,500. This bike is perfect for 14-16 year old intermediate, advanced, or expert racers and an overall good value.
